Birgit
Gaschler-Markefski

After having studied mathematics and physics at the Technical University Magdeburg, Birgit received her PhD in statistics in 1993. Between 1993 and 2004 she worked as a postdoc at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology in Magdeburg. Currently she is working within the German biostatistics group of Boehringer Ingelheim as the head of clinical biostatistics group oncology, heading a team of biostatisticians that focuses on oncology trials treating patients in different disease and different phase I, II, and III. She is also working as a lead project statistician for an Oncology substance. Her main scientific interests are on adaptive designs, multi stage modelling, and survival analysis. She has published several articles and book chapters on topics like multi-stage modelling in oncology, quality of central adjudication processes and analysis of fMRI data. Apart from that she is giving lectures on topics like general clinical trial design at Ulm University.
